Freedom's Day or, Fallen Swords' Day
January 1st
Whether you
choose to call it
Freedom's Day or, Fallen
Sword's Day, this very
special holiday is set
aside, and it sanctified
the final blow to end
slavery.
This is a Faithist
holiday that we are told
to celebrate to the "end of
the world," yet this
holiday is often
overlooked. In the "Book
of Inspiration," Chapter 17, we are told to remember the day of the proclamation of
freedom for Guatama's (North America's) slaves. This day is January 1st.
From the public announcement, September 22, 1862, that slaves were to be
proclaimed free, to the actual signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by Abraham
Lincoln, January 1, 1863, it was 100 days. This document changed our nation and
proclaimed slaves "forever free."
The awakening of the conscience of a nation which provided the support for the
Emancipation Proclamation was a long hard struggle which spanned many years. The
angels who were working with mortals chose several Quakers to be the leaders in this
work. The Quakers cooperated with escaped slaves, intellectuals, and celebrities. Harriet
Beacher Stowe, Walt Whitman, Stephen Foster, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and the wealthy
banker John Forbes are a few of the prominent people who supported the Emancipation
movement through writing and public speaking. This country was bombarded with
songs, poems, newsletters, newspapers, and books to present the plight of the four
million Afro-Americans who were in slavery in the United States.
In the North, those who opposed freedom for the slaves' caused riots, destruction
of private property and martyrdom of white Northerners who supported the
Emancipation movement. It is generally felt that the killing of white men involved in the
Emancipation movement may have been the incident which caused the spiritual
5
awakening of a nation and brought popular support to the cause of freedom for slaves.
Whatever the reason, the North moved solidly behind the emancipation of the slaves.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "I think we must get rid of slavery, or we must get
rid of freedom."
John Greenleaf Whittier preserved a coat
stained with rotten eggs. He would display the coat
at his speaking engagements to demonstrate to his
audience the type of people who supported slavery.
In 1619, a Dutch Man-of-War that had been
cruising in the West Indies captured a Spanish
frigate with a load of Africans. The Dutch took the
cargo and the Africans and sailed up the coast of
North America, putting into Jamestown to trade.
There, 16 months before the Mayflower dropped
anchor in Plymouth Harbor, the first African slaves
were bought in North America. These twenty
people were the first to come to our continent in
chains, traded for food and water. This trade
increased rapidly, with the English involved deeply
in the buying and transporting of African slaves.
Only the strongest and healthiest of African
children and young people were carried by boats to
North America, and only the strongest of these
survived. Despite the high death rate, the slave trade proved very profitable.
By the time of the Emancipation Proclamation, January 1, 1863, the average life
expectancy of a slave was 17 1/2 years. The law allowed that slaves could be worked 18
to 19 hours per day. Food and living conditions were pitiful.
As early as January 1, 1809, there was a day hailed as the "Jubilee of Liberty." This
was the day which marked the end of the African slave trade in the United States. Yet it
was 54 years before the Emancipation Proclamation was signed into law.
On January 1, 1863, great rallies, parades and "Proclamation Watch" celebrations
were held all over the North to mark the monumental event of that day. In the South,
new songs traveled and evolved...Songs like, Amazing Grace and free at last

AMAZING GRACE - John Newton (17251807)
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
The Lord hath promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun.

FREE AT LAST " American Negro Songs " by J. W. Work
Free at last, free at last
I thank God I'm free at last
Free at last, free at last
I thank God I'm free at last
Way down yonder in the graveyard walk
I thank God I'm free at last
Me and my Jesus going to meet and talk
I thank God I'm free at last
On my knees when the light pass'd by
I thank God I'm free at last
Tho't my soul would rise and fly
I thank God I'm free at last
Some of these mornings, bright and fair
I thank God I'm free at last

I thank God I'm free at las

Today, we seem to have forgotten the importance of the Emancipation
Proclamation and the continued struggles of the disenfranchised. OAHSPE marks
January 1st as one of the four special holidays we are to observe until the end of the world.
In the 1882 Edition of OAHSPE, preserved through a photocopy process by Ray
Palmer, this holiday is called Fallen Sword's Day, proving that the pen is mightier than
the sword. When editing was done on OAHSPE for the 1891 Edition, this holiday was
called Freedom's Day. Exact text and changes are as follows:
1882, Inspiration, 17: The Fallen Sword's Day: 1-4.
1891, Inspiration, 17: Freedom's Day: 1-4.
1. As Jehovih, through His God, delivered into freedom Guatama's
slaves, and, thus, to general slavery dealt the final blow, so Jehovih
blessed that day, and sanctified it.
2. And He gave to man, as the master's sign in the lodge, A HAND
POINTING TOWARD A PEN, signifying, I HAVE PROVED THIS
MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD.
3. And Jehovih Gave To The Members In The Lodge To Answer In The
Sign, CLASPED HANDS, AND LOOKING UPWARD, Signifying, IN
THY PRAISE, JEHOVIH!
4. Jehovih said: Remember the day of proclamation of freedom, for it is
My day, which I bequeath unto you as a day of freedom in all righteous
jollification, which ye shall keep every year, and commemorate, to the
end of the world.

Es Day or, Holy Veil Day
March 31st
OAHSPE was written by
spirit communication as angelic
hands typed the manuscript through
Dr. John Newbrough. In OAHSPE
we are told to set aside as a Holy
Day, the day spirit communication
began, March 31st.
For thousands of years,
humanity has experienced various
forms of spirit phenomenon such as
dreams, visions, seeing ghosts, and
"hunches" about the future. These
phenomena are impressions or
experiences from spirits to mortals.
March 31, 1848, the rappings heard
at the Fox farm were a kind of spirit
phenomenon. Previous residents of
this house reported that they had
heard these strange sounds on and
off over a period of several years.
What made the incident on March 31st different was that a method of communicating
with the raps was worked out whereby communication between mortals and spirits was
possible.
Mrs. Fox later wrote that "on March 30 (1848), we were all disturbed all night. The
noises sounded in all parts of the house." The next night the family went to bed early and
the rappings again came to upset them and would not let them sleep. The family worked
out a way to communicate with the raps, and the raps indicated that they were being
made by a "spirit or ghost." This communication began March 31, 1848. It was the idea of
questioning the raps, setting up communication, which lifted the veil between the world
we live in and the world of spirit.
At first, the method of communicating was that only questions with response in
counting of raps could be answered, such as how old, how many, etc.; and when these
types of questions were exhausted, questions which could be answered "yes" or "no" were
asked. If the answer was "no" there was silence. If the answer was "yes" there would be 2
10
raps. In this way the story of the 31-year-old peddler who had been killed for his money
and buried in the cellar was told to the Fox family. A better method of communicating
was later de-vised whereby the alphabet was recited starting with "A." When the next
letter for a word was reached by reciting the alphabet letter by letter, rapping would be
heard, and then whoever was reciting the alphabet would start over at "A" again. Many
more questions could be answered in this way, and, although this alphabet method was
cumbersome, it worked.
At first the rappings occurred only when the Fox sisters were present, but in the
various places that the Fox sisters visited and gave demonstrations of the strange
rappings, other people suddenly found that they also had special gifts which allowed
them to communicate with the spirit world.
Many of these "mediums" (as they were called) were young people. The ten-
month-old daughter of Anson Atwood of Troy, New York, while "seated in a highchair"
eating sweets, was lifted about by unseen hands. She was moved from place to place with
the ease of a "feather blown by the lifted wind."
Daniel Douglas Home, who was 17 when his gifts were discovered, was the most
famous spiritualist of his time, and traveled extensively in the United States and Europe
giving seances. He could float in the air, and once floated out a third-story window of a
house and then floated back into the house through a different window. It is interesting
to note that unlike the Fox Sisters, D.D. Home did not take money when he gave
demonstrations of spirit communication.
Much has been written about the Fox Sisters: Katie, Maggie, and their married
sister Leah. But in the maze of stories about them and the birth of Spiritualism, it is clear
that no one was ever able to prove that they were frauds. The two young sisters were
subjected to the closest examination by committees and individuals who were
determined to prove them charlatans. Yet, time after time, instead of finding the girls
used "tricks" to make the raps, the investigators became believers in Spiritualism and
communication with those who were "dead."
Spiritualism grew rapidly although established religions were particularly upset
by the revelation that "life" goes on for all who pass from what we call "death" into a new
"life" in spirit. Despite many frauds and deceptions, two years after communication was
set up in Hydesville in 1848, there were over two million Spiritualists in the United States.
This is evidence of the angelic preparation and support for Spiritualism. Nothing was
able to stop the realization that "life goes on."

Holy Compact Day
June 21st
Records tell us that in
Philadelphia it was a long hot
summer in 1787, the summer of
the Constitutional Convention.
The writing of our Constitution
was undertaken by a group of
55 men who were under the
inspiration of the angels who
worked for the establishment
of this country. Only 12 states
sent representatives, as Rhode
Island did not wish to
participate in an activity which
they considered "outside
influence" in their affairs. You
may recall that Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams when he was driven out of
Massachusetts because he was calling for greater political and religious freedom.
George Washington chaired this convention of spiritually inspired men. Benjamin
Franklin was a prominent member whose suggestions were based upon successful
American Indian organizations in the New World, such as the Iroquois League. Because
of the great contributions of James Madison, he became known as the "Father of the
Constitution." He wrote and spoke eloquently on many occasions urging the delegates to
compromise their viewpoints.
The discussions went on for days, as they worked through compromise after
compromise between the various interest groups. There was the compromise which
brought about the two houses in the Congress: The House of Representatives made up of
representation by actual population; and the Senate, where each state would be
represented by two people. Today we realize the value of the two houses of Congress,
but then it was a compromise solution to a problem.
Another basic principle of the Constitution developed through compromise was
that States would have certain powers, and the central government would have certain
powers. These powers were carefully defined in the Constitution; but today this division
of powers is still open to interpretation. Lawmaking still approaches issues such as civil
13
rights and abortion from a viewpoint of: Are these proposed laws states' rights or, the
rights of the central government to decide?
Another important compromise hammered out in Philadelphia was that the slave
trade would be prohibited in the United States after January 1, 1809.
The Constitution was signed September 17, 1787, and it took just three months for
the first ratification, by the State of Delaware. On June 21, 1788, scarcely more than a year
after the Convention convened, the Constitution became the law of the land with the
ratification of it by the State of New Hampshire. New Hampshire was the 9th state to
ratify. Needless to say, Rhode Island was the 13th state to ratify the Constitution, doing
so in 1790.
Many states felt that the personal freedoms that had been fought for were not
guaranteed, and so insisted that a section, now known as the Bill of Rights, be added
before they would ratify the Constitution. James Madison proposed 12 Amendments to
the Constitution for this purpose, and by December 15, 1791, ten of them had been ratified
to become the Bill of Rights. These Ten Amendments guaranteed among other things,
freedom of the press, speech, and religious expression. The two amendments which did
not pass had to do with the House of Representatives: limiting the number of
Representatives, and provisions for salary.
Our constitution has become the model for constitutional democracy all over the
world. September 17th is celebrated as Constitution Day in the United States, the
celebration of the day the Constitution was signed in Philadelphia. In OAHSPE we are
told to celebrate as a Sacred Day the date of the ratification of the Constitution, so that as
Faithists we celebrate June 21st as Holy Compact Day.
14
1882 & 1891, Inspiration, 15 -Holy Compact Day: 1-3
1. As Jehovih, through His God, bequeathed to the children of
Guatama a government unfettered by the name of God or
Lord or Savior, so Jehovih sanctified the day of the
ratification and the signing and sealing of His compact
(American Constitution), as the DAY OF THE HOLY SEAL.
2. And the sign thereof He made, A HAND HOLDING A
QUILL.
3. Which shall be the master's sign of salutation in the lodge
on the day and evening commemorating the same.
4. And Jehovih made the answer to the master's sign, THE
HOLDING UP (by the member of the lodge) OF A PIECE OF
PAPER, signifying, CONSTITUTION.
5. Therefore, it was said: The master saluted on the sign, DAY
OF THE HOLY SEAL, and the lodge answered in the sign,
CONSTITUTION.
6. And Jehovih said: Remember this day, and keep it holy, to
the end of the world, for hereat was the beginning of the
liberty of man!

Holy Kosmon Day
July 26th
It would be appropriate
to commemorate July 26th by
rereading the covenant taken at
Shalam:
 Kingdom on Earth, 5: The
Holy Covenant.
 Kingdom On Earth, 6: The
Covenant of The Brotherhood.
Also, you could read some of
the history of Shalam, such as
The Land of Shalam, by Mrs.
KD Stoes.
1882 & 1891 OAHSPE, Inspiration, 18: Holy Kosmon Day.
Besides the above, Jehovih gave one more holy day, Kosmon
Day, which He also commanded to be kept in
commemoration of another matter, which Jehovih
commanded to be secret with the Faithists for a certain period
of time, the which time hath not expired to this day.
Therefore, the day of Kosmon is still a secret with the
Faithists.
As Holy Kosmon Day was kept as a secret, July 26th may not be the day. Yet it
seems the most likely day as Dr. Newbrough and those who went with him to Shalam
celebrated July 26th as Holy Kosmon Day, commemorating that day in 1884 when the
first covenant was performed in Kosmon by those striving to be Faithists.
The volunteers who had assembled to go into the wilds of the New Mexico
Territory and establish the Father's Kingdom on Earth, had gathered in Pearl River,
Rockland County, New York. There on July 26th, this group of dedicated people, took
the first covenant for the purpose of establishing the Kingdom on Earth. To the best of
16
our knowledge, twenty disciples took this covenant, and then traveled to New Mexico
with Newbrough, to the "Land of Shalam" near the village of Dona Ana. These early
aspiring Faithists were said to have "more courage than judgment. They were people of
wealth, gently bred, and terribly in earnest." They were accustomed to living in well built
homes, "and now they found themselves sleeping on the ground, shaking lizards,
centipedes, and insect novelties from their bedding when they retired, and emptying
their shoes of various creeping things at dawn."(1) Their drinking water was muddy river
water collected and held in barrels so the mud would sink to the bottom. Those that were
there called it a "cruel" land, "it was a test of heroic endurance for a creed of self-
effacement. That first winter was a test of their durability. Several, unused to harsh living,
died and were buried at a lovely spot in the Dona Ana Mountains."(2)
Each year after 1884, July 26th was celebrated as Holy Kosmon Day by those
pioneers at Shalam, New Mexico. This information was kept "secret" among those who
participated and came to light when research was being done on Shalam. (3)
There are people today who feel that July 26th should not be celebrated as Holy
Kosmon Day, even though this was the date celebrated by Newbrough and the early
Faithist at Shalam. These same people today feel that we have not been given the date of
Holy Kosmon Day.
Whether or not July 26th is Holy Kosmon Day, it is a day to be remembered. It is
the day that the first Faithists, inspired by OAHSPE in Kosmon, came together and swore
an oath to serve the Creator. This should set July 26th apart to the end of the world as a
very special day to be remembered.
Perhaps we will be given another date for Holy Kosmon Day sometime in the
future. But even so, in time to come, when the early days of Kosmon are spoken of, the
significance of July 26th will be remembered; and the Faith, Courage, Dedication and
Love of Jehovih that inspired and led that first group to make the first covenant unto
Jehovih, will be recalled.
17
Whoso, hereafter shall join My kingdom, shall repeat My Covenant
and the Covenant of My Brotherhood, before the C'chief and the
chiefs and before My chosen, in the manner ye have done before Me
and My holy angels.
Jehovih's Kingdom On Earth, 6: 51.
To Thee, O Jehovih, I give all; my flesh, my spirit, mind, and all my
service, to be Thine forever. Appropriate Thou me, soul and body in
whatsoever way Thou canst, that I may do the best unto others,
mortals and angels. Until thou attainest this, thou shalt not hear
My Voice, nor see My hand.
Inspiration, 18:24-26.

Seasonal Festivals
First, the earth plieth in a circuit around the sun,
which circuit is divided into four arcs called
spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Sixteen Cycles, 1:1
19
These festivals are aligned with the natural rhythms of the Earth. Celebrating the
seasonal festival together as Faithists in Kinship instills within us a boundless,
unknowable heritage with Corpor and the Es worlds.
Ye shall assemble for the communion of angels, regularly, and
maintain intercourse with them. For in no other way can ye
demonstrate the immortality of the soul.
Judgment, 2:1.
Traditionally, Faithist groups have a medium who assists in pulling the veil aside
for the whole group. Universal Faithist groups encourage individual or direct
communication followed by a sharing of experiences. The Seasonal Festivals allow for
this important work.
In the Se'Moin Tablet in Oahspe, the names of some of the symbols are different from the

Spring or Vernal Equinox - A Time of Awakening
Associated with Nighttime, Dark of the Moon & North
Panic- name S'un or S'un'da
The earth plieth in a circuit around the Sun, which circuit is divided
into four arcs called Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
OAHSPE, Sixteen Cycles, 1:1
The springtime ever speaks to us of a fresh awakening. So too, life is a sequence
of cycles. And we gather this day to greet the New Light of Spring. May the Light of the
Spring's Sun manifest new understanding within us. We have come this day in
communion with our brothers and sisters from the higher spheres that we may give
thanks and praise unto the Eternal Creator, that we have been brought again to the
opening of another season in our year of service to our Father-Mother. Let us seek at this
Spring Equinox to understand our own growth in our steps to manifest the Creator in
our lives and to glorify the Creator in service to others. We walk in a humble path yet
see the Creator's Hand in all things and know the Light of Kosmon is upon the earth.
21
Summer Solstice -A time of Redemption
Associated with Dawn, Waxing Crescent moon & East
Panic- name Ka'un or K'un'da
Jehovih said: Of such like is My heavenly edifice; I send not winter
to please one man, nor summer; nor the rain. I consider in what way
I shall induce men to raise up one another and to be considerate.
Through Me, thy father and thy mother and thy brethren, and all
Faithists that come after these, My doctrines, learn to consider the
unbelief of mortals, and the impossibility of one man seeing through
another man's eyes.
First Book God XVII:15
This is the time of the Sun's greatest Light. At this time of Redemption, we should
Light candles on our altar in remembrance of the Light of our Mother-Father the Great
Spirit. Those bound by the darkness created in the past are forgiven, redeeming them,
restoring them, so they find their darkness dissolving. Let us find our place among those
who work in the Creator's Light.
From this communion within ourselves and the awakening of the spiritual forces,
we build around us that cape of protection under which the storms of life cannot pierce.
We must learn to make that cape so wide that others less strong than we may shelter until
they too have learned to know the power within which when found, casts out all fear.
22
Autumn or Fall Equinox - A time of Gratitude
Associated with Noon, Full Moon & South
Panic- name Sam'hoi
Onk (Panic). Sun belt of the earth. That portion of the earth subject
to vertical rays. Onk, direct. Owk, oscillating. Onk gave I unto you
that ye might behold the glory of summer, the fragrance of spring,
the beauty of autumn and the snow of winter. Study the ant and the
bee; they comprehend Onk. The lazy man shall learn Onk (Poit).
Book of Saphah, Se'moin, Interpretation:49.
In our celebration of the Autumn Festival, we have gratitude. Creator, our
Heavenly Father-Mother, we come to thee in Autumn, aware of Thy Power, of Thy
Wisdom and Thy Love, we come to Thee this day of Celebration of the Fall Festival. We
think of the four Seasons Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter as a circle. We have gathered
this day to celebrate the circle of the seasons that is the path of the earth, it is the circle of
life and all creation. Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, Celebrations by the Ancient
Faithists who say these are the Sacred 3 because they teach the Summer Solstice and the
Winter Solstice and the Balance (which is both equinoxes), the balance between the
Solstices, the same every year: the midpoint between the Summer and the Winter
Solstices.

by My inspiration upon them.
Book of Inspiration, 7:6.
We gather today to acknowledge the ever presence of the Creator that is the
mystery within the knowledge of great E-O-I. Yet the Soul's Truth is that we are all part
of the All Person. We already realize we are part of the All-Soul, which is from the All
and that is the Universal E-O-I. On this level, At-One-Ment is experienced as an
immersion of being within the All... experiencing Divine Love. We are not perfect but,
where the self is lost in the All Self, we recognize our At-One-Ment with the All Person,
our Father-Mother, our Creator... This At-One-Ment is accomplished in stages and is
more and more the stilling of the mind with Aheba, the divine Love.
24
Within Aheba all fear passes away. The consciousness of a great overshadowing
becomes more and more real. When we have entered this true peace of the heart and felt
Aheba, the Divan Love, embracing and infilling us, we are stepping out firmly on the
Emeth path. There is no consciousness apart from this understanding. This knowledge is
Light. Let us now shine as a sun. A little Light in a dark place may wholly illuminate the
darkness. We take to heart this teaching! The more we grow in understanding, the more
we see our At-One-Ment, merged in the magnificent splendor of the `All', our
Mother/Father.
Frank Morley, who was a suis for Kosmon Church of England, tells us: "There can be no
forgiveness without love, and no love without forgiveness." Amareth is Divine
forgiveness. For the Faithist today, Amareth and Aheba are an essential part of the
spiritual life; they together form one of the most powerful experiences of the soul. For it
is only through the deepest love that we can come into harmony with all creatures, and
find one unity with the Supreme Being, Father-Mother of us all. "To know all is to forgive
all." We would add, "To forgive all, is to love all." This is the end of Frank Morley's
Comments on Amareth and Aheba, loving forgiveness. OAHSPE speaks of forgiveness.

All animals move within this Love Adorable, this perfect Inspiration, perfect Blessing,
the manifestation of the Perfect Presence of the Creator, and it is Aheba. Aheba cannot be
fully experienced until a person has become child-like and is willing to let go of anger
and selfhood, thus experiencing Amareth.
In your love and forgiveness do ye raise them out of
the torments of hell. And inasmuch as ye raise up
others, so doth Ormazd raise up your own souls.

Moon Days
K'git Ki'git K'git: the Lunar Dew descends and quickens the vital
Dark of the Moon or New processes and starts the psychic currents into activity
as in the circulation of the Light. This is an excellent
Moon time to start new projects and decide on the new
work.
*In OAHSPE Dew is also called A'JI an Etherea
substance/energy that sometimes descends to the
earth. Luner Dew or Luner A'ji is the spiritual
vibration of the moon.
E'git E'git: there is an increase of psychic power; ultimately,
Waxing Moon in the developed, it is during this Phase that the auric
radiation develops called the Robe of Splendor,
M'git, which becomes the Parodar. Start the work.
Full Moon
M'git: after the Full Moon's peak has passed, there is a
gradual reversal of these processes. The spiritual
influence becomes magnetic, and there is an increase
of astral power; it becomes the Omnific Blessing. This
can also be a time of protected communion as the veil
is thinner. But it is the power of the Moon in this
Phase, which holds the lure of the Tetracts enticing
selfish use of this power. Finish the work.
Uk'git Uk'git: the energy becomes negative, there is a gradual
Waning Moon absorption of the Lunar Dew's residue to be
revitalized on the return of the New Moon. Evaluate
the work.

The temptation perhaps was never so great as now to
regard ourselves (students of OAHSPE) as a chosen people,
who have the light within, but our own great vision should
lie in the discovery that there are today thousands at least of
persons like ourselves with lives enriched by a new
awareness and a new sensitivity to good, to healing, to light
and love.

Faithist Solar Sabbath
What is OAHSPE trying to achieve?
The Faithist Solar Sabbath is intended to unite Faithist in a global celebration of the
Sabeth. It is unfortunate that this editing change (1882 to 1891) has created the most
conflict. No matter how we choose to calculate the New Year both choices create a
Sabbath on the same day six months out of the Julian Calendar year, progressing forward
one day at every Solstice. To avoid emotional conflict over this editing change UFK
celebrates bought New Years but does not celebrate a Soler Sabbath.
And it shall come to pass that the sabbath days all around the world
shall be the same day unto all people, even with the travel of the sun.
Whereby, Jehovih's heavenly kingdoms shall be in concert with
mortals, as to times and seasons in all things.
Inspiration, 14: 27-28
The editing of the 1891 OAHSPE have caused confusion and consternation
regarding the date of the Solar New Year. Most students feel that the 1891 edition puts
the new year on the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. To understand
the changes between the 1882 and 1891 OAHSPE we need to understand the Sun's path
and OAHSPE explanation for the Sabbath to be the same days all around the world."
(Inspiration, 14: 27.)

What is the Sun's Path?
In the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the Sun's path is different. Look at the
diagram above. The Equator is the middle point between the Northern and Southern
Hemispheres. The northernmost latitude reached by the Sun is 90 in the Tropic of
Cancer located at 23.5 north of the equator. The southern line of the Sun is the Tropic of
Capricorn located at 23.5 south of the equator.
The Summer or Winter Solstices are dictated by where you live on the planet. But
the Northern line of the Sun is the same no matter what. It does not change!
June
In the Northern Hemisphere the Summer Solstice (the Longest Day of the year)
occurs when the Sun reaches its northernmost latitude in the Tropic of Cancer the
northern line of the sun.
In the Southern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice (the Shortest Day of the Year) occurs
when the Sun reaches its northernmost latitude in the Tropic of Cancer the Northern
line of the sun.
December
In the Northern Hemisphere the Winter Solstice (The Shortest Day of the year)
occurs when the Sun reaches its southernmost latitude in the Tropic of Capricorn - the
Southern line of the Sun.
In the Southern Hemisphere the Summer Solstice (the Longest Day of the year) occurs
when the Sun reaches its southernmost latitude in the Tropic of Capricorn - the Southern
line of the Sun.
OAHSPE tells us in its Book of Inspiration 14: 27-28, that the purpose of the New
Year is to calculate the Sabbath creating a unified day of celebration no matter where you
live on mother earth. This calculation method moves the Solar sabbath forward one day
every year and six months out of the year the sabbaths (1882 & 1891) are on the same day.

2. The northern line of the sun shall be the end of the year, and it shall be called the

3. And the first day thereafter, when the sun starteth on his southern course, shall be

2023 Thu, Dec 21 was Olde Years Day.
Friday 22nd Is New Years Day= A Friday Sabbath until Dec 2024.
Inspiration, 14: 2-3.
2. The shortest day on the northern line of the sun shall be the end of the year, and shall
be called old year's day, saith Jehovih.
3. And the first day thereafter, when the sun on his southern course starteth towards
the north, shall be the beginning of the year, and shall be called New Year's Day.
The 1891 Editing change is confusing. As "the shortest day of the year" relates to
our Hemisphere not the position of the sun. The Sun is still positioned on the "northern
line," but what is the "shortest day on the northern line of the sun?" Perhaps the
"northern line," is not referring to the tropic of Cancer but to the shortest day in the
Northern Hemisphere.
34
Conclusion:
The editor who made this change was trying to change the celebration of the Faithist New
Year from June to December. Unfortunately, the editor did not understand the sedentary
nature of the Northern Line of the Sun. They also did not understand that the Solstices
summer and winter are in opposition to each other on a global scale, that the "shortest
day" is related to demographics, not time of year. I am not imputing maliciousness on
the part of the editor. Currently Faithists live in such isolation from one another that
arguing about the New Year is a waste of resources and time and further divides us as a
Faithist Community. When the intention was to unite Faithist globally. "...the sabbath
days all around the world ...shall be in concert with mortals, as to times and seasons in
all things." (Inspiration, 14: 27-28) My inclination is to celebrate both New Years.

The Essenes of Kosmon of Montrose, Colorado, celebrated the New Year at the

Lant plates of OAHSPE. The Essenes were aware that the New Year's date in December
was a strong tradition. When the issue was discussed, they deferred to Wing Anderson
